Captain America: Civil War - 12 Biggest Rumours You Need To Know (Dec 5th)

4. Vision Is Basically Going Full Data

Though he wasn't glimpsed in the trailer, Vision will have an important part to play in Civil War, as his moral education runs in parallel to the broad questions about responsibility and behaviour that are explored in the main clash. That much is being drawn from Paul Bettany's comments about what we can expect from his character:
"I think it's really interesting, the way that a huge, epic superhero extravaganza is discussing a really interesting question, which is about people unilaterally going into other people's countries and their intervention there. It's actually an interesting thing to talk about in a massive forum like that."
It's also pretty clear that he's going to be conflicted by his personal relationships:
"The only way one can guarantee one's loyalty is love. Loyalty is beyond logic, really. Logic doesn't really provide for loyalty. If your logic changes suddenly and things don't make sense, you can alter your allegiance, but love stops you from being able to do that."
Rating: 8/10 Having Vision "learn" humanity would make sense in the wider narrative context already established by the MCU. The themes of personal growth and learning consequences and morality have been a big thread so far, and he represents an opportunity to explore it a little less obtusely. Plus it follows the Frankenstein story that was so heavily leaned on for his origin in Age Of Ultron.
