Captain America: Civil War - 12 Most Hotly Anticipated Scenes
9. Thaddeus Ross Returns
The Scene: Now the U.S. Secretary of State, Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross makes his long-gestating return to the MCU to give The Avengers a dressing-down about their conduct while saving the world, and urges them to sign the Sokovia Accords, which would make them presided over by the U.N.
Why It Should Be Awesome: William Hurt is a terrific actor, and it's a damn shame we haven't seen him since 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Still, he's one of the big highlights of the trailers: he seems to have slotted back into things just fine, and should help cement some of the movie's more provocative themes about superheroes in the real world.
What Could Go Wrong: Two things potentially: he either gets just two or three minutes of screen time, or his motivations are depicted in such a way as to make him a cardboard, black-and-white "villain". His concerns certainly seem fair from the little we've seen, so hopefully he won't become a simplistic secret baddie.
