Captain America Civil War - 12 Things Fans Will Just Have To Accept

2. ...But Marvel Could Definitely Swerve Everyone

It's worth remembering two things regarding Chris Evans' future in this series, though: 1) Evans is contracted to appear in both Infinity War films, and though Marvel doesn't need to exercise those options, they probably wouldn't contract him if they didn't mean it, and 2) Marvel has proven in the past how they love to subvert expectation and swerve audiences. There's no better instance of this than Iron Man 3, which seemed to present a pretty standard villain in The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), only to completely pull the rug out from audiences and reveal that he was merely a paid stooge, wildly straying from the source material depiction of the character. As such, it wouldn't be a shock to see Marvel keep Cap alive, because any comic book fan worth their salt would see his assassination death coming a mile off. Don't be surprised if Marvel even set up the assassination but the bullet misses or the assailant is apprehended at the last minute, a total troll for those who think they're one step ahead of the studio.
