7. Downey Jr DID Convince Chris Evans To Play Captain America

After Chris Evans himself had admitted that he'd struggled with the decision to play Captain America, Kimmel asked Downey Jr whether it was difficult to convince him, suggesting that he was one of the "friends and family" Evans consulted on the role.

At first he was bullish and refused to accept that story...

"You know, in hindsight, I get to take credit for everything. There's no Marvel Cinematic Universe without me... Yeah, I did everything... It's not true. Do you think I just call people up on the phone and say 'Listen, you're going to do this movie...' What am I?"

But eventually, he did concede that he helped convince Evans over the phone to take the part, and the only commission or thanks he's had since then has been a "pretty lousy fountain pen set".
