The hero who is most likely to connect the Avengers to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe in future movies is undoubtedly Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch is set to take on the role of the Sorcerer Supreme in a 2016 solo movie for the character and excitement is extremely high for it. Although the character isn't scheduled to appear in Captain America: Civil War, filming for Doctor Strange commences in November this year, so there's a chance a short scene could be filmed to squeeze into the Civil War movie before it's May 2016 release. It could be just a post-credits scene, but Doctor Strange could foresee the events of the Infinity War movies by scrying - a magical ability he is well-known for being able to do in the comic books - using the Eye of Agamotto. A scene showing his startled reaction to Thanos' imminent arrival on Earth would be all it took to connect the movies.
