Even though there's a very good chance that the next Marvel movie to hit screens will be a distant adaptation of the Civil War source material, there are some things you could bet your house on it being. It will be tense, it will be grand and spectacular, and - if rumours are to be believed - it will have a comparatively high mortality rate. So far, the MCU has resisted too much death. Yes, Quicksilver was heroically sacrificed in Age Of Ultron, and villains and their henchmen rarely seem to survive if they're not Loki, but in terms of the bigger name heroes, the graveyards aren't exactly overflowing. That could well change with Civil War. Given that it's based on a comic book event that could have resulted in an extinction level outcome for at least half of the cast of characters, death was a very real possibility. Just ask Goliath. Or Captain America. Or Aunt May, who was very nearly assassinated thanks to Spider-Man's ridiculous decision to take his mask off and not expect severe and swift repurcussions. Whether any of those deaths will happen (or be retooled to make someone else the victim) remains to be seen, but there is inevitably a lot of speculation regarding who might not last until the end of Civil War. To comic book fans, Captain America is probably the biggest possibility, but with Chris Evans definitely in Infinity War and the likelihood of Marvel killing off a key element of their brand's success severely limited, that's in no way assured. It's far more likely that the Russos will dispense with a lesser character for impact - someone like War Machine would certainly fit the bill - or just fail to deliver on the veiled promise to kill characters entirely. Looking at the roster, there are too many big names (and more importantly too many bankable ones) to make death a definite, no matter how bloodthirsty the audience are.
