6. Why Ronan Became Obsessed With Infinity Stones

The case could be stated that Ronan The Accuser was underused in Captain Marvel. But the moments where we did see him were extremely juicy, none less so than when he was stood at his spaceship window, glaring in horrified admiration at a supercharged, space-borne Carol Danvers. He even made a comment about one day returning specifically for her, which creates a narrative gap between this film and his antics way forward in Guardians of the Galaxy. Or does it?

A maniacal Kree commander witnessing a single person more powerful than his entire fleet? Look close and you'll see the saliva in the corner of his mouth. Evidence suggests that the origins of Danvers' Tesseract-induced power were discovered by Ronan during some future event, which is why he became hell-bent on obtaining the Power Stone in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Operating under Thanos' wing was most likely Ronan's biggest lead in finding the stone. Yet no doubt Thanos saw it all coming and goaded all parties involved into placing it in the reliable depository of The Collector.
