Marvel fans have been itching for a female-led hero movie for years, ever since Black Widow debuted in Iron Man 2. Since then the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown exponentially and studio executives have realised that a woman leading her own comic book movie can be incredibly successful (thanks Wonder Woman!). Enter; Carol Danvers, A.K.A Captain Marvel.
Entertainment Weekly recently released a preview of the 1990s set film. It showed off Captain Marvel's stellar red, blue and gold suit, the villains of the movie (the pesky Skrulls) and some of the supporting cast. It also included a de-aged Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury, with both eyes still intact and his iconic eye patch is nowhere to be seen.
And although Marvel usually deliver a rip-roaring adventure, they do make the occasional misstep; we're looking at you, Thor: The Dark World. Since Brie Larson is the first actress to headline her own movie in the MCU we're a little nervous about Captain Marvel. It's not to do with her acting abilities - more about Marvel doing the character justice.
There are certain things that trailer needs to show off in order to get us really excited and we've narrowed them down to five things...
