13. Earth Caught In The Midst Of An Alien Invasion

We've known for a while now that Captain Marvel would be taking inspiration from Marvel's famous 'Kree-Skrull War', and the trailer seemed to confirm that too.
Fury's narration makes explicit reference to there being an alien invasion, and with the storyline of that particular comic having revolved around Earth being caught in the middle of that specific conflict, it looks as though the film is set to broach the same themes as it - Cold War allegory and all.
It's unclear as to who, exactly, this vessel belongs to - whether it's Skrull or Kree - but it's definitely entering Earth's atmosphere, and is likely to be doing so without the best intentions.
