Captain Marvel Trailer Review: 9 Ups & 2 Downs
Ups
9. How They Establish The 90s Vibe
There were MANY ways Marvel could have established that the film is set in the 90s. We could have had a title screen overtly stating as much, just as Captain America: Civil War revealed the Peter Parker sequence to a huge audience reaction, but instead they do something a lot better and a lot funnier.
The trailer opening with Captain Marvel landing with a thud on top of a Blockbuster is one of the most ingenious things ever done in a Marvel trailer. It's incredible, succinct establishing work that sells the message far, far better than anything else could and it's likely to give fans a laugh in the process.
If that's a reflection of how the directors have put the rest of the film together, we're in for a treat.
