Captain Marvel: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. What It Means For Avengers 4

Regardless of whether the mid-credits scene is from Endgame itself or is just before it, what it means is that Captain Marvel is in a LOT more of the movie than first expected. Or in other words, nearly all of it. When the Endgame trailer was released, it looked suspiciously like a character had been edited out of a couple of key scenes: one inside and one outside the Avengers compound.

Captain Marvel was mooted, but it was largely considered too early in the film for her to appear. Now, though, the smart money is on her being the one digitally removed in order to protect the mid-credits reveal here. She's with them from the start of the movie, because Captain America still has his beard when she turns up, placing it very close to Infinity War.

The marketing has suggested that they formulate a plan - one they're headed out to execute in the above shot - to defeat Thanos, and then that goes wrong. After that is when they then go down the Quantum Realm route, which is going to be entirely driven by Ant-Man, since the Quantum Realm doesn't appear in Captain Marvel. Also, it also tells us that while Captain Marvel will lead the MCU in the future, she's not just going to turn up and suddenly be in charge or dominate everything.

What did you think of Captain Marvel's ending? Let us know down in the comments.
