Casting Robert Pattinson's Rogues Gallery In The Batman

The Dark Knight is back, and this time he's out after Twilight.

The internet has gone wild over the past few days since the casting of Robert Pattinson as Batman has been reported by various credible news sources. After seemingly beating out Nicholas Hoult (though this is not 100% certain) who was also shortlisted, the former Twilight star will be starring in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

While casual moviegoers would only know Pattinson as teen heartthrobs Edward Cullen or Cedric Diggory, he has amassed a very respectable portfolio of roles in recent years. He's gone under the radar by starring in underrated hits like The Lost City of Z and Good Time and is more than deserving of the role. The best way of suppressing early judgment is to make sure that he has an incredible supporting cast.

With Reeves insisting on a younger choice for Batman, his villains will likely be a mix of older established crime lords and equally young up and coming villains. However, before looking at who should be playing any of Pattinson's villains, there's one casting call that needs to be made...

12. Honourable Mention: James Gordon - Bryan Cranston

While not a member of the Rogues Gallery, Gordon is its curator, and there would be no better pick than Bryan Cranston. He has become one of the very best actors in the business in no small part thanks to his once in a lifetime performance as Walter White in Breaking Bad. An actor of his calibre would do wonders for the film and establishing him in a mentor role to Pattinson's Batman would give the new Dark Knight more than enough support.

Cranston has already made an appearance in one hollywood franchise, The Monsters Universe. He was praised for his performance in Godzilla which was cut far too short but a role as important as Gordon would ensure that Cranston would be around to entertain us for a long time.

Probably the best alternative to Cranston would be the man who was already cast during Ben Affleck's tenure, J.K Simmons. Both are incredible actors and Simmons is more than capable of retaining the mantle, but in spirit of refreshing the Batman character, perhaps offering the role to Cranston would be the best choice.

Now that we have our gordon, perhaps it's best to start with a villain already confirmed to appear in The Batman...
