Christian Bale: 5 Awesome Performances and 5 That Sucked

5 Mind Blowing Performances€

5. Batman Begins (2005)

Bale€™s Character: The God Damned Batman. After Joel Schumacher had had his wicked way with our beloved Batman, both movie-goers and long-standing fans of the character were left feeling disillusioned and confused about the future of the property. Enter Christopher Nolan, whose unerring vision of an altogether darker Dark Knight led him to cast Christian Bale as the new face of the conflicted icon. Bale€™s Batman was new, exciting, and visceral and drew heavily upon the sense of tragedy in the characters€™ troubled origin. And after the hammy pseudo-charm of some of the previous Batmen (lookin€™ at you here, Clooney) Bale€™s take on Batman felt like a refreshing 180-degree turn away from what we were all expecting. It was the role that jumped Bale up from €˜already famous€™ to €˜jeez, that guy€™s face is everywhere€™ and for that reason we have to count Batman Begins amongst his finest performances. Consider our minds blown.
