Christina Applegate: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

5 Awesome Performances...

5. Amy Green - Friends (2002/2003)

She only appeared in two episodes of the classic TV series, but became a favourite recurring character as Rachel's selfish sibling Amy. Rachel's evolution over the series from needy brat to self-sufficient professional/mother is one of the major arcs, and Applegate's Amy pops up in the ninth and tenth seasons to underline that growth. Amy's worse than Rachel ever was, she's a volatile, impolite shopaholic, who has absolutely no interest in her sister's family. Applegate sinks her teeth into the part wholesale. Highlights include several wonderful back and fourths with Ross (Did I buy a falafel from you yesterday?) and a narrow, self-obsessed mindset that means she remembers absolutely nobody's name. She's a very simple, one-joke character, but Applegate exploits the indulgent spite marvelously.
