4. Brittany - Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (2009)

Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is easily the worst film on this list. In fact it's easily one of the worst films I've ever seen. That said, because it's only a vocal role for Applegate, and she's a tiny part of a much bigger mess, it's not her personal nadir. Applegate plays Brittany, a Chipette, which is basically to say a singing chipmunk of the female persuasion. She's joined by other talented actresses (Amy Poehler & Anna Faris) - in what can only be described as professional debasement - for a plot that sees the Chipettes and Chipmunks battle it out for musical supremacy. It's as phony and joyless as it sounds, and the singing amounts to auto-tuned babbling.
