Christopher Lee's 10 Most Memorable Sci-Fi And Fantasy Roles

1. Count Dooku In Star Wars

As if being Sherlock Holmes, a Bond villain, the definitive Dracula in innumerable horror classics, and a wizard in the best fantasy story of all time weren't enough, Christopher Lee also starred in two of the Star Wars prequels as the confidence-oozing arch-foe Count Dooku.

When audiences see Dooku in Attack of the Clones, they're not entirely sure what to make of him. Sure, he's leading the Separatists, but is he actually evil? Lee plays this ambiguity perfectly, almost convincing viewers that he's not such a bad guy before the penny finally drops that he's a Sith Lord in league with Darth Sidious.

The resulting battle between Dooku and the combined forces of Anakin and Obi-Wan, and then Yoda, is simply electrifying (quite literally once the Force lightning starts crackling). Lee's limited mobility actually works in the film's favour. Dooku doesn't need to dance about to fight multiple opponents: he's that good. And Lee's acting prowess is so flawless, he sells that conceit perfectly.

Christopher Lee occupies a special place in the hearts of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror fans. His many transcendent contributions to these genres will not soon be forgotten.
