Christopher Nolan: An A-Z Guide

Syncopy is Nolan's own production company which he set up along with his wife. It has been used to produce most of Nolan's films and has begun to produce others such as Man of Steel and Transcendence which is being directed by his friend Wally Pfister. If you look at the logo for Syncopy it looks quite familiar to the way in which 'Inception' is written on posters, Nolan based the Inception logo on his Syncopy logo.

T: Three Dimensions

AZ Christopher Nolan Three Dimensions2 Like CGI, Nolan has never been a fan of 3D. Now that nearly every blockbuster seems to have to be in 3D it is more popular than ever with film makers. It means you can charge extra for cinema tickets and it means you can re-release old films in 3D and make double the money you did first time around (I'm pointing the finger at you James Cameron). Christopher Nolan was asked if he would consider making Inception into a 3D film but he strenuously refused this because he felt that adding 3D to any film would divert people's attention towards the visuals and away from the actual story. He was right because Inception was hard enough to follow without having 3D debris thrown at your face. Personally, I'm not a fan of 3D so it's reassuring to know that there will always be some directors out there who won't make a film exclusively for 3D and leave very few screens showing a 2D version like last year when Prometheus was released.

U: Unfinished Business

AZ Christopher Nolan Unfinished Business There have been rumours circulating the Internet over the past few months about the current status of the proposed Justice League film and whether or not Christopher Nolan will have anything to do with it. Given the huge success of Marvel's The Avengers movie adaptation, a Justice League film is sure to follow but Nolan has already said that he is now leaving the Batman franchise alone which can only mean one of two things: 1) That he could maybe reconsider this and even come on to the project as a writing partner or 2) He could have nothing to do with it meaning they will re-cast Batman and there will inevitably be yet another full re-boot of his story altogether. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has already denied that he is going to be in any Justice League film which would suggest that outcome number 2 is most likely to happen.
