Christopher Nolan's Tenet Delayed AGAIN To Mid-August

Christopher Nolan's anticipated blockbuster delayed for a second time.

Despite his initial, stubborn insistence that his TENET meet its original intended release date, Christopher Nolan's upcoming film has been delayed to Mid-August following a surge in COVID-19 cases.

This marks the second time that Warner Bros has delayed the sci-fi actioner, which was hyped as the film to reignite the international theatrical market in the wake of the worldwide epidemic shutting down theaters. The film was initially slated to be released on June 17, but was later postponed to July 31. As of this writing, it's been postponed again to August 12.

In a statement made to Variety, a Warner Bros. spokesperson said;

Warner Bros. is committed to bringing ‘Tenet’ to audiences in theaters, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready and public health officials say it’s time. In this moment what we need to be is flexible, and we are not treating this as a traditional movie release. We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy.

Whether the film will see its new release date remains to be seen. Warner Bros. has also delayed the 10-year anniversary rerelease of Nolan's Inception.

Nolan has long been adamant that his films be seen in a theatre and has been one of the biggest advocates for reopening cinema as soon as possible, stances that have both been roundly criticized by some commentators online.
