Cillian Murphy and Justin Timberlake join I'M.MORTAL

THR have made my day this morning. It's been reported that Andrew Niccol's original sci-fi thriller I'm.Mortal is firmly set to go before camera's next month - the writer/director's first feature since Lord of War five years ago. Niccol is an advocate of original cinema, the brainchild behind two of the more interesting concepts of the 90's in Gatacca and The Truman Show. His latest, a Logan's Run-inspired vision of the future where the aging gene can be switched off at 25, peaked my interest as soon as it was announced. Over the weekend, Cillian Murphy entered final talks to join the movie as 'The Timekeeper' which Justin Timberlake is set to lead, alongside Amanda Seyfried. Good cast, I'd say;
When a rebel (Timberlake) from the ghetto is falsely accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage (Seyfried). Together, this duo rages against the system, living minute to minute. They discover that love is more powerful than all the time in the world.
I wonder if the movie, which was far from certain to be Niccol's next only a few weeks ago - has been pushed forward by Fox and New Regency because of Warner Bros' remake of Logan's Run, which is likely to go before camera's next month. I'm.Mortal is certainly out of the blocks first and it's a wise move. Another wise movie however would be to change that God awful title. I'm Mortal or better yet, Immortal is fine.
