5 Performances That Sucked
5. The Dead Pool
In the fifth and final of the Dirty Harry films, Clint is back as Detective Harry Callahan, taking scum off the streets of San Francisco in 1988's The Dead Pool. This time he just so happens to have a partner named Quan (Evan Kim) who is adept at martial arts, and will use it at the drop of a hat. Callahan and Quan are involved in solving the murder of a burnt out rock star (played by a young Jim Carrey) and end up following the trail of a sadistic serial killer bent on knocking off celebrities. This is by far the lesser of the Dirty Harry series, as it just can't shake the over produced, testosterone fueled, glossy action film bug that so many films of this era posses. Clint seems like he really has no control over his character in this poorly directed film. Even though he was any where near from being done making movies, Clint seems to be sleepwalking through this film (possibly because he was also the mayor of Carmel, California during filming). Thankfully Clint was happy in letting Callahan retire after this dud.
