Clive Barker to write a Hellraiser remake?

pinheadmain.jpgClive Barker the writer/director of the cult classic horror movie Hellraiser has annouced on his official website Revelations that he is to write the screenplay for a remake of his movie. He will also act as the movie's producer but has no intention of directing. Here is some of what he had to say... "They're going to remake Hellraiser One with a lot more money and they've invited me to write it €“ the invitation came from Bob Weinstein €“ which I am going to do, on the basis that if I don't do it, it will be done in some way that I probably won't like!......It's only that one that I really, really, really care about in terms of its remake value - and it'll be kind of fun to have the extra money to do the effects and all that cool stuff.......I'm excited about it - actually it'll be kinda cool to revisit it once and see if there are things we can do to it which will make it significantly better." To read the whole extremely interesting interview click here. So it seems that Barker is intrigued to see what he could do with Hellraiser on a significantly bigger budget than he had with the original nearly 20 years ago. It also sounds as if he is almost being forced into being involved with a remake because of the concern that if it was made without him it would turn out like many of the crappy horror remakes recently. More example of Hollywood running out of ideas then, it's going to come to a point soon where there will be more remakes and sequels being made than original material. source - filmstalker, revelations
