Clooney buys rights to Grisham novel "Innocent Man"

11547289.jpgEvery week it seems I have news of a new project on the horizon for George Clooney. Variety are reporting that Clooney and his frequent co-producer Grant Heslov have bought the screen rights to the John Grisham novel The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town. The book tells the true story of Ron Williamson who was sent to Death Row in Oklahoma for 11 years for a murder he didn't commit. What made it worse was that the real culprit of the crime gave an eye witness testimony aganist Williamson in court. To read more about the case click here, I resisted telling you how it ends on here because of spoilers. Sounds like a horrifiying tale. One scenario that has always bothered me in life is being convicted of a crime (especially murder) that I didn't commit, so going to see this movie might kill a few demons for me (or make my paranoia worse, who knows?). No word yet on who will helm the flick, but with Clooney's schedule looking full for the next 18 months, I wouldn't expect him to film it.... unless of course they sit on the project till then. source - variety, coming soon
