Colourful and cool THE BOAT THAT ROCKED posters!

I'm still trying to recover from the really disappointing trailer for Richard Curtis' latest movie THE BOAT THAT ROCKED because I'm really dying for this to be good. I have a soft spot for Curtis, even his rom-com's LOVE ACTUALLY, NOTTING HILL and FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL all work for me on some level. And well I studied the British history of Pirate radio in the 60's, it's a fascinating period. It was a little similar to what I like to think we as movie bloggers do. We aren't in this for the money, we broadcast our loves, our unique tastes, our opinions, our pure obsession with cinema just to get our voice out there and for people to hear. To promote the kinds of movies we want to promote, just like those music lovers promoted the kind of music they wanted and not what was being shoved down their throats by public or commercial radio. That's kind of why I'm fascinated by this period and the thought of characters played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Nick Frost and Kenneth Branagh in this era, is just soooo frikkin' awesome. Here's two new posters which I stumbled across at First Showing, who themselves found them at Empire... 3193531936 THE BOAT THAT ROCKED opens April 3rd 2009 and although it does have a U.S. distribution deal at Universal, no release date has yet been set.
