Comic-Con saw the release of a lengthy trailer for the eighth season of The Walking Dead, which concluded with a jaw-dropping stinger that featured a decidedly older, greyer Rick laying in bed, with no further context given.

Fans have been wildly speculating since on what the image means: is it a nod to a certain something that happens to Rick in the comics, is it a flash-forward, or perhaps even a dream sequence?

The Walking Dead's marketing has been known for its trolls and misdirects over the years, so it's best to keep an open mind about exactly what this tease means for now. Still, damn weird, right?
