Comic Con 2018: 10 Biggest Rumours‏

2. Warner Bros. Rebrands The DCEU

DC Extended Universe Intro

You don't have to search far and wide to see that the DC Extended Universe is a divisive topic online. It's a storm that's been brewing for years now, with critical reaction to Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad and even Justice League falling way short of Warner Bros.' expectations. Unlike those first three examples, the most recent entry in the franchise (which enjoyed a gruelling production) disappointed at the box-office too - a result that may have, according to Comic Book Movie, even forced the studio's hand.

The report, which details leaks for Warner's planned Green Lantern movie, The Batman and even Justice League's troubled production, states that the DCEU could be heading in a markedly different direction to what audiences have gotten used to. Given criticism of the franchise has mainly stemmed from the fact that it's been tonally dour (save for Wonder Woman), with the works of Frank Miller a primary influence, a change in direction wouldn't be inconceivable in the slightest.

Given what we've seen of Shazam so far, rumours of change with Matt Reeves' Batman along with the fact that Wonder Woman was well received both critically and financially, this one actually makes a whole lot of sense. The leak reported by CBM states that "the studio unveil a new title and logo for this shared world", hopefully providing the course correction its sorely needed.
