17. The Batman Part II
With Matt Reeves' The Batman enjoying storming critical and commercial success, it took Warner Bros. mere weeks to greenlight a sequel, though development in the years that followed was slow as Reeves worked intensely on the script.
Reeves finally completed it in June 2025, but even then, movement seemed sluggish enough that some impatient fans grew wary of The Batman Part II never actually going before cameras.
By early 2026 casting announcements began to heat up, with the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance joining the ensemble, but it wasn't until Reeves posted footage from a Batmobile camera test in May that many truly believed the film was actually 100% happening.
Shooting is due to imminently due kick off and last through the rest of 2026, though fans will be waiting a good deal longer to actually see it, as The Batman Part II is currently pencilled in for October 1, 2027 - an agonising five and a half years after the first.
