20 Movies Critics HATE But Audiences LOVE
7. Grandma's Boy
There are two kinds of people in this world - those who love Grandma's Boy, and those who are wrong. Kidding (mostly).
The critics of 2006 didn't have much time at all for this undeniably juvenile R-rated gross-out comedy, as is par the course for films from Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions label.
But despite the savage 15% critical approval it received, Grandma's Boy went down an absolute storm with audiences (85%), and remains one of the more fondly remembered cult comedies of the mid-2000s.
Nobody's going to sit here and defend Grandma's Boy against allegations that it's a boorish man-child's fantasy, but sometimes a dumb, fun, raunchy hangout movie just hits the spot, as it evidently continues to do for so many moviegoers.
Have aspects of this film aged like milk left out on a hot day? Undeniably, but try finding a comedy from this era that isn't toeing an awkward line in some way.
