With Netflix and LoveFilm dominating the online movie streaming market, you might think that there would be no room for a new entrant. But Curzon are offering streaming with a difference - there's no contract. Curzon on Demand offers a wide array of films, with many art-house and independent movies which you won't find on any of the other streaming services. Many releases are offered the same day that they are made available to cinemas, meaning you can see brand new movies even when you are unable to make it to an actual movie theatre. Example titles currently available in the Curzon on Demand streaming store include the Oscar nominated We Need To Talk About Kevin and Takashi Mike's 13 Assassins. Both releases are priced at £4, or £3.50 for members. Generally speaking, Curzon members can experience a saving of around 15% against the standard pricing. We chose to order We Need To Talk About Kevin, a movie we have previously reviewed after seeing it at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. All purchases can be viewed for up to 7 days, so long as you are within the UK and Ireland. The ordering process was hassle-free and you can be watching the movies within minutes. Simply add the movie you would like to watch to your basket, follow the check-out procedure and then your movie will appear in your "My Curzon" area. Picture quality, as always with streaming, is largely dependent on your connection speed. But anything over 1mbps and you should see a near high-definition quality picture, just as we experienced while trialing the service. Curzon on Demand works on both Windows PC's and Apple Mac's and in most modern internet browsers, so long as Javascript is enabled. As of April 2012, you can also watch Curzon on Demand via iPad and iPhone. Coming soon will be compatibility with selected Smart TV's.
