20 Horror Movie Scenes They Were FORCED To Cut

David Cronenberg's remake of The Fly is one of the most brilliantly nauseating horror films ever made, but it was almost even more hardcore, until Cronenberg received major pushback from test audiences.

One scene saw desperate scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) try to figure out how to reverse his own transformation into a human-fly hybrid by experimenting with a baboon and a cat.

Seth fuses the two animals together into a horrifying abomination, which then attacks Seth, prompting him to beat it to death with a lead pipe.

But test audiences hated the scene, feeling that having Seth kill an animal - or two animals, really - wiped out much of the sympathy they had for his predicament, especially as he'd already accidentally killed another baboon in his initial experiment.

And so, fearing that the scene's inclusion would cause the entire movie to implode in on itself, Cronenberg had no choice but to cut it, though at least the scene has been preserved for fans eager to check out the disturbing end result.

In short, cutting it was the right call.
