Damon & Shatner in Star Trek - JUST rumours?
Not a lot seems to be happening in regards of the new Star Trek movie. Every couple of days we keep hearing the odd Shatner returning rumour or Damon as Kirk talk but nothing seems to come out of it. Both guys (well in Damon's case his publicist actually) have been interviewed over the last couple of days and they spoke a little on these rumours, taken from Moviehole.. Damon's publicist... "I think that it came out of a junket he was doing in Asia for Mission Impossible and from my understanding it was one of those hypothetical questions actors always get about who they'd like to work with and JJ threw Matt's name out there. But we've never heard anything on our end. William Shatner... "I know nothing except that where there's rumblings there's gas, and in this case the gas is coming from J.J. Abrams and none of it seems to be directed in my direction. If any gas comes my way, I will post it immediately and you all will know. Until then, hold your breath -- because this gas is odiferous." What do you make of that? Either they are both being very coy about the real truth of the matter or they really haven't been approached by J.J. Abrams. I suspect we should hear some official info real soon with the release date set to be 2008. Infact I'm quite surprised we didn't hear anything official last weekend when it was the 40th birthday of Star Trek. You know, I really like the idea of Matt Damon as a Star Trek captain (whether or not it's as Kirk or as a brand new captain) but I hate the idea of Shatner in there. It's time to move on from that, for god's sake! source - moviehole
