I didn't realize there was enough dance movies made to actually make a spoof movie from. The news today though is that we will be subjected to one....along the same lines as
Epic Movie,
Scary Movie and
Date Movie.
Variety are reporting that The Weinstein Company has picked up
Dirty Step Stomp (awful title) that will spoof such dance movies as
Dirty Dancing,
Save the Last Dance,
Step Up and
Stomp the Yard. Does anyone care? Seriously? I mean there has been two dance movies in the last 5 years that I can think of anyway and yes I know they were top of the U.S. Box Office for their respective weekends but that's it. I mean it's not like it's a genre that is oversaturated like comic book movies (not that I'm complaining because I love em!) or horror movies. At least Scary Movie had something to say about it's genre which at times did reign true.... a Dance Movie hardly has the source material to "spoof" anything. source -
