Daniel Craig To Play James Bond "At Least Five Times"

His third outing Skyfall opens October 26th and his fourth could open in 2014.

James Bond fan site MI6 has reportedly announced that Daniel Craig will play the role of the 007 'at least five times' in the EON series. Craig has just completed filming his third Bond movie, Skyfall (which opens in October) and if he were to fulfil the rumoured five movie commitment, it would make him the most active Bond actor since Roger Moore. Moore is actually the record holder of Bond outings, appearing as Britain's most famous spy in seven official films. Craig could conceivably hit seven, but for now he is only officially contracted for a further two films, the 24th and 25th Bond movie respectively. The news was announced in correlation with reports that Sony Pictures had agreed a new co-financing deal with MGM to continue to bring James Bond to the big screen. It's said that the producers hope that the Bond movies will be released on a two-year cycle once again, which could mean that the 24th movie in the Bond franchise may hit the big screen as early as 2014. Though Craig could have something to say about this. MI6 reports that he has told his agent that he won't be taking up any new acting offers until the New Year, once his press duties on Skyfall are over. He has shown a desire to spread his wings beyond the Bond saga, recently appearing in movies he hoped (but may very well now not) would turn into franchises with Cowboys & Aliens (which has no chance of being sequelized) and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (which is probably 50/5o). However EON are clearly moving aggressively with a 24th Bond movie, especially if Skyfall is the success that it looks like it could be. They are in deep into contracting screenwriters for future movies and it is clear they want to keep Daniel Craig as Bond for a long time to come. The next installment of Bond- Skyfall- is released in the UK on the 26th of October.
