Danny Boyle Still Intends To Revisit 'Rage' Virus In 28 MONTHS LATER
Late last year Danny Boyle was still talking up the possibility of a sequel to Trainspotting which he assures us will happen when the cast are a little older. Irvine Welsh fans will know this will be an adaptation of his Trainspotting novel follow-up, Porno. However OWF are more interested in the continuation of another of his films. Boyle this week, not for the first time, has reiterated his intention to revisit horror in the long talked about three-quel to his own zombie hit 28 Days Later. When the subject was broached in a recent webchat at Empire, he answers;
'They have a good idea for it, and once I've got Frankenstein open, I'll begin to think about it more.'Okay, just a small bit of info but it's nice to see he hasn't forgotten about it, as some are waiting patiently for this long promised installment. The second film, directed by Spaniard Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and starring a pre-Hurt Locker Jeremy Renner is just as good as the first, if not better and a third directed by Boyle to close out the trilogy would definitely be something to savour. Is it just me or does the idea of a 28 Months Later and later a 28 Years Later, not sound like incredible fun to explore? Boyle's profile grows with every new film he makes and he'd surely have no trouble getting a strong backing for a grand scale finale to the franchise he started back in 2002. All this is a long way off though. As he mentions in his answer, he has the stage version of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein to direct and the trifling matter of the London Olympic opening ceremony to stage in 2012, so I don't expect we'll be seeing it for at least another 28 Months yet, ironically.
