3. Jessica Chastain Will Probably Be Wasted

Any blockbuster movie would be lucky to have an actress of Jessica Chastain's calibre playing their villain, though from the few glimpses of her we see in this trailer, it's hard to be optimistic about Kinberg making the most of her presence.

Chastain's still-unnamed shapeshifter antagonist - rumoured to be named "Smith" - shows up for a few scant seconds to spout cliched dialogue to Jean Grey, clearly manipulating her to her own ends, and that's about it.

Apocalypse of course received a healthy dose of flak for casting Oscar Isaac as the titular villain and then doing offensively little with him, and it doesn't seem like Kinberg's learned much from Bryan Singer's failure there.

Sure, it's possible the next trailer might surprise us all with a major show of force from Chastain's baddie, but you'd be smart to keep your expectations basement-low.
