David Harbour Cast In Black Widow & Rachel Weisz Eyeing Key Role
Black Widow's cast gets a little...stranger.
Ahead of Black Widow's long-awaited solo movie finally starting shooting in London this June, the casting announcements are now rolling in.
After Florence Pugh was confirmed to co-star in the solo outing for Scarlett Johansson's Avenger - widely expected to be a prequel origin story of sorts - The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Stranger Things and Hellboy star David Harbour will also appear in the movie.
No word yet on who he might be playing, but given Harbour's popularity since starring in Netflix's hit sci-fi show, it's likely to be a meaty role in the least. He's a dab hand at playing both heroes and villains, so it really could go either way.
Just as curiously, Variety has meanwhile reported that recent Oscar-nominee Rachel Weisz is currently in talks to appear in the movie in a "key" role, and given intense interest from both sides of the table, a deal is likely to be inked and confirmed in the very near-future.
Black Widow is set to shoot from June to September, with Cate Shortland (Lore) directing a script penned by Jac Schaeffer, who previously received a credit for contributing to Captain Marvel's screenplay.
Given that Captain Marvel has just crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide, Kevin Feige and co. will clearly be hoping that the far more established character of Natasha Romanoff might be able to blast far past that impressive milestone.
