DC Extended Universe: Predicting The Plots Of 10 Announced Movies

6. The Flash (2018)

In the past, it has been said that the Flash character is too simple and lame to make a movie about, but the success of the character's television show has proved otherwise and a movie is indeed being made. The Flash will be an origin movie of the titular character. It will be the Barry Allen version of the character and he will be portrayed by The Perks Of Being A Wallflower's Ezra Miller. The likelihood is that the movie will focus on Allen's classic origins, with his powers stemming from a laboratory accident. In the comic books, Allen is a forensic scientist and, one night when he was about to head home from work, a lightning bolt struck him and the chemicals he was working with spilled onto him, granting him superhuman speed (one can assume he will be working with some kind of serum linked to superhumans in the DCEU, so he will probably already know the heroes he will later ally with). Regarding villains, it does seem unlikely that a fellow speedster will be opposing him - having two emerge in the DCEU at the same time would be too much of a coincidence and, frankly, boring - and Gorilla Grodd is probably too absurd to throw in so quickly. He is more likely to use his powers to stop petty crime, initially, which will result in criminals getting ticked off with him and suiting up as supervillains to combat him. It's probably best to expect the main plot to be Allen preventing someone like Captain Cold and his supervillain team "The Rogues" from carrying out a heist.
