DC Extended Universe: Predicting The Plots Of 10 Announced Movies

4. Shazam! (2019)

Like Marvel Studios and their Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC and Warner Brothers have opted to wait until a lot of weirdness has occurred prior to its introduction before really getting silly with the magical side of their universe. In Marvel's case, they will have released thirteen movies before Doctor Strange hits theatres in 2016, but DC - who are clearly in a rush to catch up - will still only have released seven. Their first truly magical offering will be Shazam! The movie will likely focus on the character's least silly origin - the one depicted in the more modern New 52 continuity - which sees fifteen year old Billy Batson becoming the titular hero when the ancient and powerful magical warrior Black Adam (who will be played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the movie) is released from his tomb. The release of Black Adam - who is likely to be an anti-hero who starts throwing his weight around in the DCEU - will prompt the being known as the Wizard of the Rock of Eternity to abduct and assess individuals to become his champion to combat Adam. After encountering numerous unsuitable candidates, he will settle on Batson and tell him that by saying "Shazam!" with good intentions in mind, he will become a powerful superhero. Shazam will then go on to battle Black Adam and defeat him, before being recruited into the Justice League by either Batman or Superman in the post-credits scene.
