The DC movie universe is approaching a critical time in its life. Justice League's imminent arrival in cinemas is the moment the series has been building towards since 2013, and it has 'make or break' stamped all over it.

The comic book giant's finest have had mixed fortunes on screen during this era, with Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Suicide squad all proving divisive, but Wonder Woman's solo debut has injected some much-needed optimism into the franchise.

Although a directorial switch-up late in the day and expensive reshoots gave rise to fans fears that Justice League is destined to be another tonal mess, relatively recent test screenings were thankfully positive.

While the superhero team-up is a major milestone for the series formally known as the DC Extended Universe, there are many more stories to tell within its boundaries, with solo outings for Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash in the active development and numerous other projects on the horizon.

As Justice League edges closer to release, more details about the movie are bubbling to the surface and intel from the sets of the other films is gradually coming to light...

10. Julian Lewis Is Playing King Atlan

Welsh actor Julian Lewis Jones was revealed to have a secret role in Justice League a while back, and the fans have been speculating wildly about who he might be playing.

The star has finally put them out of their misery with an Instagram post which as good as confirmed his role as that of the ancient Atlantean king, Atlan.

Given that Atlan sat on the throne of Atlantis many generations before Aquaman, there's no chance of seeing him rubbing shoulders with Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry in present day, but expect to see him in action during a flashback sequence depicting the New Gods' first invasion of Earth thousands of years ago.

Fans can also expect Momoa's character to don his predecessor's Atlantean armour for the final showdown with Steppenwolf in Justice League, plus a flashback cameo for Jones isn't out of the question in next year's Aquaman movie.
