DC Movie Universe: 10 Major Developments You Need To Know
7. Justice League 2's Script Is Already In Development
The DC movie universe sounds like it will be around for a good while yet. Even though plans to launch Justice League as a two-parter were shelved, a standalone sequel to the team-up movie is already in early development.
J.K. Simmons, who plays Commissioner Gordon, told Total Film (via Batman News) that a script for Justice League 2 is being written alongside The Batman's screenplay.
“Well, Commissioner Gordon wears a trench coat in every scene, so I don’t know that the ‘pumped up’ part is going to be all that evident, especially when you’re standing next to Batman! But this is the first Justice League movie – we hope – of a few.
"They’re working on scripts for The Batman and for the next Justice League movie. It introduces my incarnation of Commissioner Gordon. I don’t have a lot to do. I feel like I just dipped my toe in the water of who Commissioner Gordon will be.”
Along with confirmation that Warner Bros is already pressing ahead with Justice League 2, Simmons's comments also reveal further sequels are possible, and that Commissioner Gordon will likely be a part of them.
None of this is all that surprising, but it should silence some of doomsayers who believe the DC movie universe is on its last legs.
