DC: Ranking Every Upcoming Movie & TV Show By Anticipation
9. Shazam
The Rock is the closest thing we've got a real life superhero, so it makes a lot of sense for him to finally be appearing in a comic book movie (how'd it take this long?), and - given his reputation as 'franchise viagra' - he could be the perfect man to breathe life into the DCEU.
However, Dwayne Johnson isn't playing the title role here, but rather the part of Black Adam - a supervillain from the comics, though Johnson has described him as more of an anti-hero. The role of Shazam - a young boy who can transform himself into the eponymous superhero by saying that very word - has yet to be cast, but there's no denying Johnson is the draw here.
He generally guarantees box office, and is always fun to watch. His charisma, humour, and action chops, combined with the movie having a different tone from the rest of the DCEU, make this one of the most intriguing of the upcoming slate, and one of the more exciting too.
