DCEU: 9 New Revelations About DC's Future Movies
5. There's A TRENCH Movie In Development
In a move that absolutely nobody in their right mind could possibly have predicted, Warner Bros followed up Aquaman's box office success by announcing that they're making a spin-off focused on The Trench. You know, those eyeless monsters that try to drag Aquaman and Mera down into the depths when they attempt to go and visit the Mary Poppins goliath guarding the Trident.
THR announced Warners have hired newcomers Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to write what amounts to a horror focused on the creatures, which will be more modestly budgeted than Aquaman. How they'll manage that with as much CGI as they're going to need is anyone's guess.
Curve-balls are to be encouraged, and a monster movie without any of Aquaman's characters is definitely an intriguing and different prospect, but it's still a strange companion piece to Warners other DC movies. Without a superhero headlining, it's also probably going to be a pretty difficult sale.
