Deadpool: 100 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References
82. Rhymes With Pullverine
There's a few humorous references to Wolverine in the movie, but none are better than this. Deadpool turns to the audience and reveals the reason he got his own film is because he blew someone important who's name rhymes with "Pullverine". Things then get a bit personal when he starts tossing out insults and phrases like "Down under" in an Australian accent. Maybe this is why Hugh Jackman doesn't cameo...
81. A Recreation Of The "Leaked" Footage
It should be obvious to anyone who's followed Deadpool from its conception, but the opening car chase/attack is a direct recreation of the action scene shown in the test footage that "leaked" back in 2014 and motivated the whole movie to get made in the first place. Several major beats are repeated, such a slow-mo in a flipping car and a prophetic drawing, and basing the whole opening hour around this one sequence feels like a nice tip of the hat to all the fans who pushed for the film.
80. Batman Theme
While fighting in the car, Deadpool's head is smashed into the radio, switching up the station. One of the channels it jumps to, if only for a split second, is playing the iconic scene transition from the Adam West Batman TV series. That's not the last we here of that early era of live-action superheroes though.
