Death Wish Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

1. Vincent D'Onofrio & Dean Norris' Solid Performances

Bruce Willis may not give a damn, but the film is lent some slight additional credibility by decent supporting performances from Breaking Bad's Dean Norris (as a detective investigating the murder of Kersey's wife) and Vincent D'Onofrio (as Paul's brother Frank).

They're both effortlessly likeable, intriguing actors who are well-cast here and ultimately far more compelling to watch than the apparent star of the show.

Sure, they're both slumming it for a paycheck and could do much better with worthier material, but they're certainly putting effort in and actually deliver their lines with some level of conviction, which can't really be said of Willis.

They make the frequent lulls in pacing a little easier to deal with, even if you'll ultimately (death) wish the film made better use of their talents.
