Death Wish Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

2. The Pacing Is Terrible

Death Wish Dean Norris
MGM

Even though the new Death Wish clocks in at a seemingly reasonable 107 minutes - just barely 10 minutes longer than the original - it sure feels like much longer than that to the film's absolutely appalling pacing.

Ignoring the fact that it spends far too long getting to the tragic loss of Kersey's wife - preceded by countless tiresome scenes supposed to pass for "character development" - there are lengthy gaps between the action, and generally way, way too much talking for any movie called Death Wish.

It's an absolute slog to get through at times, underlined by how resoundingly drab and uninspired the whole production feels.
