Dennis Farina RIP: His 5 Most Memorable Roles

1. Cousin Avi €“ Snatch (2000)

Cousin Avi Guy Ritchie€™s second (and best) film follows intertwining characters involved in diamond heist and a fixed boxing match. Snatch is a great film and it€™s genuinely packed with funny and interesting characters. Given the great roaster of characters, it€™s a credit to Farina that his character stands out as one of the greats. Farina plays, Cousin Avi, a Jewish jeweller who orchestrates a diamond heist from Antwerp to London. When things go wrong and the 86-carat diamond goes missing in London, Avi is forced to travel over. He€™s on form as the fish out of water character and delivers the put downs in the unique Farina manner. Cousin Avi is a classic Farina character, loud mouthed and angry at the world. As the film progresses, he delves further into London€™s underbelly and mishap after mishap. Farina is pure entertainment to watch as the character becomes even further frustrated in a country he doesn€™t understand and doesn€™t like. €œShut up and sit down, you big, bald f**k. I don't like leaving my own country, Doug, and I especially don't like leaving it for anything less than warm sandy beaches, and cocktails with little straw hats.€ Classic Farina at his best. He will be sadly missed. Did you have a favourite Farina character or moment in film? Then let us know in the comments section below.
