Dennis Quaid cast as Bill Clinton for THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP!

Watching Jonathan Ross interview Michael Sheen on U.K. television last Friday night, it was obvious Sheen knew who was being lined up to play former President Bill Clinton in the HBO movie The Special Relationship. Sheen, grinned and fidgeted like Tony Blair sweating over an uncomfortable answer, when Ross put the question to him. And just like the weapons of mass destruction farce, the truth comes out eventually and today Variety report that Dennis Quaid has nabbed the part of the leader of America during the 90's. It's a role he has almost kind of played already, when his cardboard cut-out U.S. leader in the forgotten Hugh Grant comedy American Dreamz was a parody of George W. Bush. quaid-the-special-relationship Red-head Julianne Moore has nabbed the role of Hilary Clinton and Helen McCroy who played Cheri Blair in The Queen will reprise her role here. Peter Morgan, the screenwriter of the factual fiction films Frost/Nixon, The Damned United and The Queen will be making his directorial debut in what is being billed as the third movie in Blair trilogy that began with the U.K. drama The Deal, also scripted by Morgan in 2003.The project, dealing with the turmultous relationship between newcomer Blair, and the heavily under pressure Clinton at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, is awaiting the final greenlit from HBO, who may be waiting on financial backing help from the BBC. The telefilm if/when made, is not expected to make it to the big screen.
