Despicable Me 3 Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. Fans Will Mostly Enjoy It

Above all else, if you enjoyed the last three movies, it's incredibly likely you're going to get a kick or two out of this one. Yes, it's probably the weakest of the four movies and certainly of the main Despicable Me trilogy, but it still has enough charm, sweetness and visual appeal to be a fitting entry into the series.

The highly entertaining new villain and smart decision to keep the Minions at bay ensures the film doesn't feel anywhere near as cynical and desperate as many second sequels, and while it's no Toy Story 3, it's no Shrek 3 either.
