Did Tom Holland Just Confirm Hydro-Man In Spider-Man: Far From Home?

A new video posted to Tom Holland's Instagram account may have purposefully revealed a new MCU character set to debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The video finds Holland talking about performing all of his own stunts, while a stunt double in the background gets hit by a big splash of water on the set of the currenty shooting sequel. While it just seems like he is joking around with his Instagram followers and promoting his newly found charity, there may well be something way more interesting going on here.

If you take a closer look you can see the set is designed to look like the Italian city of Venice. While this is interesting in and of itself, the big splash scene being shot in the background has ignited social media theorists predicting that it may have been caused by a member of Spidey's rogues' gallery that hasn't yet been featured on the silver screen, namely Hydro-Man.

Is the following video yet another humourous in-joke about Tom Holland revealing all the MCU secrets?

In the comics, Hydro-Man (real name Morris Bench) has the ability to manipulate water at his will and also become water himself; basically he's an aquactic version of Sandman. His origin story is even similiar and pretty Spider-Man villain standard; his body was transformed to a living form of water after an accidental run-in with Spider-Man saw him fall to the ocean where experimental technologies and radiation forever changed him and he has since sought vengeance against our masked webcrawler.

Concept art of Spider-Man fighting Hydro-Man had already set rumours alight in recent weeks but this new video from Tom Holland seemingly confirms his appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel.

OR maybe Marvel is just pulling a misdirection on us, knowing that the internet has come to believe Hydro-Man is in the film?

As usual, Marvel are keeping secrets for their Spider-Man sequel tightly close to their chest but Hydro-Man's possible inclusion in the MCU would be a really interesting and unexpected one and could also further set up the rumoured formation of the Sinister Six. He would also fit the MCU's current mantra of using Spider-Man villains yet to appear on film.

Jake Gyllenhaal is expected to be the film's main villain Mysterio (though even that is yet to be confirmed) and other baddies such as The Chameleon and Kraven the Hunter have been rumoured, with Michael Keaton's Vulture, Michael Mando's Scorpion and Michael Chernus' Tinkerer likely to return.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is due to hit theaters on July 5, 2019.
