Directing Robert Ludlum's last novel will be...

...ELITE SQUAD director Jose Padilha, a movie which Simon recently reviewed for us on DVD and enjoyed immensely. The Hollywood Reporter say Padilha has been trusted by Universal to direct his first Hollywood movie which will shoot this Spring and is based on Robert Ludlum's last written novel THE SIGMA PROTOCOL. Back in June we told you IRON MAN scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway had been hired to adapt what was being fast-tracked as one of Universal's highest priority projects. The book revolves around a young investment banker who discovers a secret organization that has been manipulating the global economy. When the banker tries to expose the scheme, he€™s targeted for death. The novel follows the same kind of "man on the run" structure as Ludlum's BOURNE novels but has the added hook of Nazi involvement. Which always makes for exciting viewing. Now can Padilha find his own Matt Damon?
