Director found for Universal's THE HOST remake
Universal, the home of movie monsters, has hired a director for their remake of the 2006 Korean monster blockbuster THE HOST. Commercials director Fredrik Bond will make his feature directorial debut on the Hollywood remake based on the adapted screenplay by SMART PEOPLE scribe Mark Poirier with Gore Verbinski producing. The original movie which pre-dated CLOVERFIELD, follows a dysfunctional family who band together to rescue their little girl who has been taken by a horrifying giant monster. Over 13 million tickets were sold for the movie which is officially the biggest South Korean film of all time. Bond is quoted by Shock Till You Drop as saying...
"It processes a few genres together, and visually it feels close to the stuff I've made over the last few years in commercials, the tonality of humor and the scale,"As well as many commercials, Bond also directed Moby's video for "Body Rock". Will this remake feel a little late after CLOVERFIELD?
